Description:

NAMI offers outreach in local communities to provide essential and free education, advocacy and support group programs to individuals with mental illness and dual diagnosis, and their family members. The organization also provides information and referral services via its telephone HelpLine, email and its website, as well as in-person during outreach events. The info includes guidance to mental health treatment services, along with agencies/resources that help with benefit applications, shelters and housing, food, transportation and advocacy. NAMI also provides current and accurate information about mental illnesses, medications, co-occurring substance abuse, Baker and Marchman Acts, guardianship and more.

NAMI currently offers three support groups in Charlotte County:
**NAMI Connection peer support group for adults 18+, held from 2:00PM - 3:30PM Wednesdays at Twin Rivers Pathways, 4161 Tamiami Trail, Unit 302, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
**NAMI Connection peer support group for adults 18+, held from 5:30PM - 7:00PM Wednesdays at Southwest Florida Counseling Center, 1777 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte, FL 33948.
**NAMI Family Support Group for adult family members and caregivers 18+, held from 7PM - 8:30PM the second Tuesday of each month at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Charlotte County, 1532 Forrest Nelson Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

Intake Process:

There is no registration required. Walk-ins to groups are always welcome.

Program Fees:

NAMI programs are always free of charge to those in need.

At this time all NAMI support groups are adults 18 and over only. No other eligibility required.
