Adoption Programs
Keep Charlotte Beautiful (KCB) assists with the FDOT program Adopt A Highway, and we administer Adopt A Road, Adopt A Shore, and Adopt A Cemetery. These programs allow local businesses, organizations, and families to take action to improve and beautify Charlotte County. All of the supplies are provided and t-shirts are provided for your group. There is also a sign that will be put out in the area to recognize your group!s efforts. This sign could also honor someone who has touched your life and passed on.
The group is required to do 4 cleanups per year and send in a report.

Little Free Library
One of the KCB goals is to encourage residents to reduce waste. KCB has a established a Little Free Library at the Eastport Environmental Campus to accomplish this! We encourage residents to come in and take a book and or leave a book for someone else!
Mini Grants
The KCB mission is to inspire and educate people to take action to improve and beautify Charlotte County. KCB has mini grants to assist to help schools and organizations to build pollinator or community gardens to aid in the greening of our community.

Great American Cleanup Opportunities
KCB participates in the Keep America Beautiful Great America Cleanup every spring! The theme is #CleanYOURBlock and this is the biggest cleanup, spruce up, fix up event in the nation! Cleanups are absolutely part of this event but so would getting out and taking care of some of the lawns of your elderly neighbors or sprucing up a flower bed at one of our veteran!s homes. There are so many ways to give back to the community under this program. Grab your coworkers or friends and sign up for the date of your choice. We provide the shirts and supplies for the cleanups!

Coastal Cleanup Opportunities
KCB participates in the Ocean Conservancy!s International Coastal Cleanup every fall! For this one you and your coworkers or friends become citizen scientists by doing an actual audit of what your group cleans up. This data is then compiled by the Ocean Conservancy and is published. This data is critical to help change and shape environmental policies around the world.

Litter Control (As much as I wish we could do this, I am not sure how we would even begin.)
Recycling
Every year, KCB celebrates America Recycles Day by hosting a E-Waste Recycling Event the first weekend of December! At this event you can cleanout all those old computers, televisions and other e-waste that you have sitting around collecting dust! We also have shredding! Bring us all of those old files, clean an free from binders and clips, and we will shred them while you wait. The Sheriff!s office will also be in attendance to take the expired or no longer m=needed medicines. You may also donate gently used clothing and smalls to the Cultural Center of Charlotte County.

Service Learning for College and High School Students
KCB loves their students! You may do passive service with us or we can assist you in creating a project that will fit with your interests or degree. We also have an education internship position open every semester. For students who volunteer with us over a period of time, we will write those recommendation letters for scholarships and for college.
KCB has a scholarship program too! We hope to give out three each spring to students who have been involved with us in various ways.

Environmental Awareness and Education
KCB firmly believes that education is critical in order to improve the environment.
We present environmental lessons in littering, recycling, and composting in STEM classes in our schools.
We provide lessons in plant and soil biology, as it relates to gardening, to homeschoolers at the Garden of Eatin!.
We also present to adult groups and you can find us a events, educating attendees.
Education does not stop there. KCB also organizes the Student Calendar Art Contest and the Recycle Bowl in local schools.
