Description:

Aging and Adult Services administers/co-administers programs that provide supportive services primarily to older adults intended to assist in retaining independence and remaining in a community setting. Current programs include All Older Americans Act Title IIIB/IIIE/IIIEG (National Caregivers Program), Community Care for the Elderly (CCE), Alzheimer's Disease Initiative (ADI), Home Care for the Elderly. Case management, and transportation assistance given in accessing services such as companionship, personal care, skilled nursing, homemaker, shopping assistance, specialized consumable/medical supplies/equipment, nutrition, respite, chore, and many others. For most programs, clients must first be assessed through the Area Agency on Aging, and added to a wait list. There also is a program with limited funding to assist grandparents 55+ caring for grandchildren -- this program does not require contact with AAA first, but funding runs out quickly.
