Batik/Tie Dye Clubs

Taxonomy Code: PS-8200.0550-060

Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in batik making or tie dye, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Activities may include lectures by people with batik/tie dye expertise; demonstrations of basic techniques for creating or using the material or batik/tie dye artistry associated with a particular culture; and regular meetings at which members share information about current projects, enjoy the company of other batik/tie dye artists and have time to work on their projects. Some batik/tie dye clubs may also provide facilities for working on projects, arrange for discounts on materials, sponsor exhibits or sales of batik/tie dye art pieces, clothing or other items created by members; publish a newsletter; or provide access to a library of resources about the craft. Included are Internet-based virtual clubs, WebRings devoted to the subject and clubs where members meet face-to-face.
