Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiatives

Taxonomy Code: RX-8470.6600

Programs established by local police departments that have made a decision to encourage individuals with an opioid use disorder to seek medical care and ongoing treatment as an alternative to arrest, prosecution and a possible prison term. Participating police departments connect individuals asking for help with treatment programs and facilities and, at the community level, help distribute opioid blocking drugs to prevent and treat overdoses and provide resources to other police departments wanting to implement this approach.
