Description:
State of Florida department is responsible for administering human service programs for the elders and their caregivers including administering the State wide, toll free Elder Help Line & free 'Elder Update' newspaper. It also oversees Office of Public and Professional Guardians, which appoints local public guardian offices as directed by statute to provide guardianship services to persons who do not have adequate income or assets to afford a private guardian and there is no willing family or friend to serve.

Senior Legal Help Line (Statewide) provides free legal advice and brief services by telephone to senior Florida residents, regardless of income, for civil (not criminal) legal problems. Also provides solutions to seniors to help them resolve their legal problems, makes referrals to state and local regulatory agencies and, when it is determined that court representation is necessary, helps seniors find legal providers in their communities.
