Federal Bureau of Investigation/DOJ

Description:

The FBI is an intelligence-driven and threat-focused national security organization with both intelligence and law enforcement responsibilities. It is the principal investigative arm of the U.S. Department of Justice and a full member of the U.S. Intelligence Community. It has the authority and responsibility to investigate specific crimes assigned to it and to provide other law enforcement agencies with cooperative services, such as fingerprint identification, laboratory examinations and training. The FBI also gathers, shares and analyzes intelligence, both to support its own investigations and those of its partners, and to better understand and combat the security threats facing the U.S. The FBI helps to protect communities and businesses from the most dangerous threats facing the nation, from international/domestic terrorists to spies on U.S. soil, cybervillains, corrupt government officials, mobsters/violent street gangs and child predators/serial killers. It also helps to defend and uphold the nation's economy, physical/electronic infrastructure and democracy. The Tampa Field Office has six satellite offices; the closest is in Fort Myers and Charlotte is included in its coverage; there is no separate contact number available to the public, however.
